BlogFollow is a cool Wordpress plugin I just found. In addition to being a “do follow” blogger I will now show a snippet from your blog at the bottom of your comment. All you have to do is input your normal URL and your feed will be determined automatically.
Feel free to try it out by commenting to this (or any other) post. If you like the plugin head on over to SiteAMonth and download it for your Wordpress blog.
Added note: This plugin has been disabled. I gave it a good try but it made my comments page too cluttered and messy looking. I still think it is a good idea and if there ever is a way to modify the plugin with different options I might take another look at it.
Ooh, I want to see how it works!
Hi Ana, Im curious to see if it will pick up a piece of my blog, since Im over at blogger.com - only one way to find out, eh?
For some strange reason, here in Australia we do the Fathers day thing in September…..mothers day is still the same day as the USA tho…I think they are just trying to keep this ex-yank confused.
Cheers~
It didn’t work on my blog. I activated it, and when I went and looked at a post from this morning that had comments on it, and there was a database error warning. Let me ask you this-in addition to uploading the blogfollow.php file to my plugins folder, was I also supposed to upload the .png file? Any help you could give me on getting this plugin going would be greatly appreciated!
Okay, you’re supposed to upload the whole folder into the plugins folder… so yes, the .png file is uploaded also…
Oh, I’m logged in. I guess I’ll have to put up with looking at my own feed but I think that is a bit redundant.
I just want to comment to test this out! It sounds very interesting. I also have the do follow activated on my site, but I’m not sure about this plugin - it might make my comments too cluttered
I can understand about not wantint to make your comments too cluttered. I wish there was a way to omit my own feed from showing up in comments. I’ll leave it for a week or two and see how I like it after that. I trial and error plugins all the time, I just love plugins, hehe…
I wonder why my own feed didn’t show up. I changed my url to have the www in it to see if that makes a difference.
good thing I chose wordpress over Blogger. Thanks for this cool info, man.
Yea I am going down the do follow blogroll and commenting to get my name out there too. It is pretty decent plugin, my girlfriend uses it.
Okay, that plugin is SO COOL. The first comment I left showed an excerpt from that day’s post, but when I came back today, the excerpt had changed to my most recent post. I just wish I could get it to work!
Hmm that sounds like a really cool plugin. I may have to check it out.
Don’t know what’s wrong with it…
Hi Anna! Interesting plugin. I’m not sure if you found another edit comments plugin coz the one that I had does not work with the new version of WP. But I found another one and so easy to use: http://www.raproject.com/wordpress/wp-ajax-edit-comments/
I never did get the other one working… I’ll check it out right away.. thanks again…
The other one doesn’t work with versions higher than 2.0.x. But the new is a lot easier, you don’t have to do anything with your theme template
Hmmm… my feed is not showing up.
Okay, I have the edit comments plugin installed… so here I am testing it out…
Edit: yay, I think it is working… *grin* was it good for you…?
Edit number 2: Okay, there is supposed to be a countdown… where is the countdown…?
Edit number 3: I hope people that are subscribed to a thread don’t get an email every time I edit! haha, now that would really be annoying…
lol! I only got 2 emails so it wasn’t emailing every time you edit. But you have the option to email it every edit, for the admin I think.
It was good in mine. It was showing up the counter too. But I took it out under Options.
EDIT: I see the countdown
Neat…thanks for sharing this plugin. I don’t have a wordpress template but I know a lot of other people do!
Thanks for coming by and come back any time.
Nice find! I have never seen this plugin before, but it looks nice and is another great way to reward readers
